‘Bulldog-Bound’ Creates a Seamless Pathway for Davidson-Davie Students Transferring to GWU

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—ɫƵ-Webb University and Davidson-Davie Community College recently signed an agreement that expands transfer pathways for the schools. The “Bulldog Bound” direct-entry admission program will provide a seamless pathway for Davidson-Davie students transferring to ɫƵ-Webb.

The new agreement expands on work the two schools did in September 2021 to give Davidson-Davie students yet another way to advance their education by transferring to ɫƵ-Webb. Those  agreements formalized pathways for students studying in the fields of human services, business and accounting.

“This is an important partnership for us,” emphasized ɫƵ-Webb President William Downs. “We want to reduce and remove barriers to students who are eager to join us for a four-year degree at GWU.  Our ‘Bulldog Bound’ initiative with Davidson-Davie Community College is designed to complement the excellent instruction already provided by Davidson-Davie, and we can’t wait to welcome their graduates to our campus!”

“Bulldog Bound” allows Davidson-Davie students to transfer directly to GWU after completing degrees in the following areas: Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS), Associate of Arts in Teacher Preparation (AATP), Associate of Science in Teacher Preparation (ASTP), Associate of Fine Arts in Visual Arts (AFA), or Associate in Applied Science (AAS).

“Our partnership with ɫƵ-Webb is extremely important to us, and ‘Bulldog Bound’ just adds another element to this great collaboration between our schools,” said Dr. Darrin Hartness, Davidson-Davie president. “I am thrilled that our students have another strong option to continue their education after they leave Davidson-Davie.”

Students in the “Bulldog Bound” program have access to information about GWU academic programs, as well as to faculty and staff, who will facilitate their transition to ɫƵ-Webb. The program prioritizes the ability of participants to receive admission, financial aid, registration and orientation communications early in the transition process, which sets Davidson-Davie students up for success at both institutions.

Students who wish to participate in “Bulldog Bound” must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Be a currently enrolled student at Davidson-Davie in a degree-seeking capacity.
  • Submit GWU application for admission and disciplinary forms by GWU deadlines.
  • Submit application fee or waiver and fulfill all commitment actions steps.
  • Be in good standing at Davidson-Davie and other institutions attended.
  • Demonstrate good citizenship and conduct.
  • Earn and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 at Davidson-Davie and a minimum GPA of 2.20 in their most recent term.
  • Earn an Associate’s degree from Davidson-Davie in a college transfer program or in an applied program for which an articulation agreement exists.
  • Enroll at GWU within one academic year (within the next two regular terms (fall/ spring semesters) of completion of the Associate’s degree).
  • Meet all admissions requirements of GWU.

While enrolled at Davidson-Davie, students will identify their interest in “Bulldog Bound” by completing a brief, online form provided by the Davidson-Davie transfer counselor. There is no program participation fee. Students who discontinue their participation will be expected to transition to GWU through regular admission channels. Students who enroll at another college or university after their Davidson-Davie enrollment also will be expected to transition to GWU through regular admission channels.
